Symptoms vary on people and sometimes diagnoses is difficult in the early stages.

Symptoms include swollen and stiff joints. Your neck, shoulders, wrists, fingers, knees and feet may all be affected.

Other areas of your body that may be painful or have swelling is your jaw, ankles, sides of your feet and elbows.

Rheumatoid Arthritis can affect many areas of your body at the same time.

Synovitis is a medical term used for the inflammation of the synovial membrane. It is the membrane that lines your joints.

This condition is usually painful, particularly when the joint is moved. Swelling also occurs due to fluid in the joint.

Rheumatoid Arthritis can also cause destruction to some organs, such as the lungs and skin.

RA affects multiple joints. Most commonly small joints of the hands, feet and spine are affected. Larger joints like the shoulder and knee can also be involved. It just depends on the individual.

Polyarthritis is any type of arthritis which involves five or more joints. Inflammation of two, three or four joints is an oligoarthritis.
