Enzymes in the cherries neutralize uric acid which helps to prevent gouty attacks. Cherries, like blueberries, also contain anthocyanins which again helps with inflammation. It is these anti-inflammatory properties that make cherries so beneficial in getting rid of gout during an acute gout attack. 3. Bananas. Bananas are not mentioned frequently in helping gout, but they contain an important principal in beating gouty arthritis. Bananas are very high in potassium. Proper potassium levels help break up uric acid crystals which enables your kidneys to dispose of excess uric acid. This will help eliminate or reduce the frequency of your gout episodes. Making sure you have enough potassium should be included in any serious gout prevention plan.
